Registration of Foreign Citizens at Migration Police in Kazakhstan

Registration at Kazakhstan Migration PoliceAll foreign citizens must register within 5 calendar days after arrival to Kazakhstan. Otherwise, they will be fined by either Immigration or Border Patrol Services in addition to potential departure problems. In the past, such registration was only done at the local office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Migration Police) or at the hotel (where available). Many companies who invite overseas business travellers often register their partners themselves.
However, due to recent changes in legislation, foreign citizens of certain developed nations (usually, the same countries for which no letter of invitation is required for certain types of visas including Canada) can choose to register immediately during arrival at one of Kazakhstan’s international airports. Unfortunately, this may not be possible if they arrive by sea, train or car. They are to get 2 stamps on their migration card (provided by airline prior landing or freely available in the airport lobby right before the Border Patrol Services checkpoint). In such case, they will not have to register if they are to stay up to 30 days.
Nonetheless, the above airport registration service may not be available to citizens of countries other than above or stateless people. They will get only 1 stamp on their migration card, and will have to go to the Migration Police office for registration.
Kazakh Service Centre can help you to obtain such registration in Almaty ONLY. Our rate is $50 US. Please contact us if you have any questions about the registration process.
